- ABSTRACT The right-wing authoritarianism scale RWA (Altemeyer, 1996) cor- relates positively with prejudice, religion, support the death pen- alty, adoption of the injustices carried out in practice by govern- ment authorities and obedience in similars Milgram experiments (Altemeyer, 1981, 1988, 1996, Altemeyer & Hunsberger, 1992, 1997). Empirical studies relating the RWA and SDO (Social Domi- nance Orientation) showing that the RWA is an excellent predictor of right-wing authoritarianism. However, other studies showed that subjects autofit ideologically in middle and even the left wing, could also mark high scores on this scale (Duckitt, 2001). Was observed in a sample of psychology students (N = 264) that the ideological contrast subjects did not follow a clear left-right con- tinuum. Autofit while those on the right wing ideological earn high scores on the RWA scale (X = 3.92, SD = 0.53), the most striking result was found that those at the center of ideological positioning, also obtained high scores on the scale (X = 4.04, SD = 0.63).
