- ABSTRACT This paper presents some preliminary progress of the research fellowship untitled ´Socio-educational and community practices related to learning social participation and citizenship in children and adolescents.´ This is a first approximation in the construction of dimensions to explore the contribution of social and educational experiences to promote democratic citizenship. Is considered from an hermeneutic view that seeks to understand human experience in their specific contexts in which meanings are constructed with the actors involved. It is taken into account the grounded theory (Glazer and Strauss, 1967) to analyze the experience of the ´Child and Youth Orchestras of Lugano´. From a psycho-educational perspective, aims to identify strategies that - from this experience- challenge traditional conceptions of learning about artistic expression and exercise of citizenship of individuals who live in urban poverty. We believe that these dimensions enable to identify empirical evidence to analyze the exercise of citizenship as a process of situated learning in which the arts serve as role of mediation. We propose to describe the ways in which this experience could contribute to the promotion of educational and societal inclusion.
ABSTRACT
This paper presents some preliminary progress of the research fellowship untitled ´Socio-educational and community practices related to learning social participation and citizenship in children and
adolescents.´ This is a first approximation in the construction of dimensions to explore the contribution of social and educational experiences to promote democratic citizenship. Is considered from an
hermeneutic view that seeks to understand human experience in
their specific contexts in which meanings are constructed with the
actors involved. It is taken into account the grounded theory (Glazer
and Strauss, 1967) to analyze the experience of the ´Child and
Youth Orchestras of Lugano´. From a psycho-educational perspective, aims to identify strategies that - from this experience- challenge traditional conceptions of learning about artistic expression
and exercise of citizenship of individuals who live in urban poverty.
We believe that these dimensions enable to identify empirical evidence to analyze the exercise of citizenship as a process of situated
learning in which the arts serve as role of mediation. We propose to
describe the ways in which this experience could contribute to the
promotion of educational and societal inclusion.
