Construcción de identidades sociales en la niñez : diferencias educativas y pobreza. = Social identities construction in childhood : educational differences and poverty.

En este artículo presentamos un recorte del análisis del material empírico de una investigación acerca de la actitud de los niños hacia sus pares en diferente condición socioeconómica. Diseñamos una entrevista semiestructurada, trabajamos con material de fotos de niños y preguntas para indagar: preferencias, rechazos, la propia identificación, asignación de conductas, la categoría social de los niños de las fotos y las fundamentaciones de las respuestas dadas. Entrevistamos a cuarenta niños de 10 a 12 años, de ambos sexos y de distinto nivel socioeconómico. En este trabajo exponemos respuestas de veinte niños de nivel socioeconómico medio-alto referidas a la educación de los niños de las fotos de condición pobre. En el análisis de contenido de estas respuestas se identifican las referencias a la educación como un rasgo diferenciador del nivel socioeconómico al describir situaciones de pobreza. Los resultados se analizan desde la perspectiva de la construcción de identidades sociales.

The purpose of this paper is to show a partial analysis of the empiric material obtained within the investigation about children attitudes toward their peers in different socioeconomic situation. A number of pictures depicting children were shown to children in a semi structured interview. The children were asked to point out their preferences, rejections, own identification, assignment of behaviours, and the social belonging of the children in the pictures, and their justifications. Forty children, boys and girls, aged 10 to 12 years old, from different socioeconomic levels were interviewed. In this paper, twenty upper- class children answers are exposed. They referred to the representations that these groups sustained about the education of the poor children in the pictures. The answers were analyzed by means of content analysis. The results show that the references to education are identified as a differentiating feature of the socioeconomic level when describing poverty situations.The outcomes are analyzed taking into account the perspective of the social identities construction.
