| Nota de resumen, etc. | Este es el relato de la transformación del Hospital de dementes Santa Isabel, de Leganés (Madrid), en el Instituto Psiquiátrico José Germain, una red variada pero centralizada de centros de salud y de rehabilitación, clubes, viviendas y asociaciones de pacientes y familiares, granjas y hospitales que dan cobertura a cerca de un millón de habitantes.<br/><br/>Analizaremos las características y las dificultades de esta experiencia que comenzó en 1986, enfatizando sus procedimientos técnicos, el tipo de sujeto al cual van dirigidos, y el lugar que ocupa en una historia de las reformas de las instituciones totales que comienza con Pinel, se renueva con los avances de los modelos científicos y vuelve a ser radicalmente impugnada por Basaglia.<br/><br/>La historia posterior incluirá la creación de dispositivos abiertos e integrados de inserción social; ya desde la propuesta de Trieste se ha pensado en los pisos ciudadanos; en las cooperativas de trabajo de los pacientes. La reforma de Leganés se beneficia de estas experiencias anteriores y se propone tratar de resolver la dificultad más irreductible: la recuperación psíquica del paciente cronificado. Sin embargo, en esta búsqueda encuentra límites que parecían haber quedado atrás. |

| Nota de resumen, etc. | This speech is about the transformation of the Hospital de dementes Santa Isabel (Leganés, Madrid), into the Instituto Psiquiátrico José Germain, a varied but centralized<br/>net of health and rehabilitation centres, clubs, buildings, patients and relatives´associations and hospitals that provides medical assistance to about a million inhabitants.<br/><br/>We will analize the characteristics and difficulties of this experience that has started in 1986. We will focus on its technical procedures, the kind of person that it will be directed at and its place in the history of all the institutions´ reforms that starts with Pinel, renews with the breakthroughs of the scientific models and finally is radically challenged by Basaglia.<br/><br/>The subsequent history will include the creation of open and integrated mechanisms of socialization. It has been thought about the buildings, the patients´ working cooperatives since Trieste´s proposal. Legane´s reform has been benefited from these previous experiences and is intended to solve the most unyielding difficulty: the psychic recovery of the chronic patient. Nevertheless, there are other limits in this search: that seemed to have been left behind. |
